The MRT runs underground in the city center, and aboveground near the suburbs. The 5 color-coded MRT lines are North–South (red), North–East (purple), East–West (green), Circle Line (yellow), and Downtown (blue). • Taxi – Another convenient way to get around Singapore is by taxi due to cheap fares, clean cars, and English-speaking drivers. Look for taxi stands at all hotels, shopping malls, and public buildings. You can also hail a taxi from the side of the road. Keep in mind that during the morning and evening rush, the wait for a taxi can be very long, especially if it’s raining. • Singapore has very strict drug laws, which also apply to visitors. Be prepared for a possible urine test at the airport.
• Bring prescriptions for any medicines you have with you, and obtain prior permission from the Singapore Health Sciences Authority.
• Do not bring firearms to Singapore without a permit.
• All cigarettes legally sold in Singapore are stamped with SDPC. If you have unmarked cigarettes, you could be fined $500 per pack.
