World’s Most Stunning Airport

Posted By Wilton0 Comments

When seeking beauty in our trips, whether business or pleasure, we’re likely to consider the airline, the hotel and the destination. We’re hardly to consider the airport where we’ll be arriving. However, a recent global poll conducted by PrivateFly recently announced the world’s top ten most scenic airports.

Topping the list was a rather tiny hub located in Scotland, nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean. Barra Airport, a short-runway airport, is located in southern section of the Outer Hebrides. First opening in 1936 as an on-demand airport and later passing under the control of British Airways, Barra is considered a rare gem among airports.

The staff are quaint and polite, the airport quite small, but what exactly makes this locale so stunning that it could beat the likes of St. Barts and St. Maarten? It’s one of the few places left in the world where you can land directly on the beach! In fact, as the website attests, the schedule is still dictated “by the ebb and flow of the tide.” As you coast in on a small 20-seater plane, you’ll likely feel the gusts of an ocean breeze, but even the uneasiest of travellers will be much too taken with the serenity of the destination to show any concern.

Once on the island, guests are treated to the delight of small-town character and an array of relaxing activities. While it may not be a common business destination, it makes an excellent off-the-grid luxury alternative. The airport is currently under the direction of Highland and Island Airports Limited.

3. Jackson Hole Airport

4. Aruba Airport

5. Male Airport
