On Time or Delayed? Airline Schedule Update

Posted By Wilton0 Comments

Unforeseen activities are a traveler’s worst nightmare – from weather to construction to unruly passengers, here’s the update on scheduling issues at airports around the world.

If you’ve been somewhere off the grid for the past 48 hours, you may not have heard that it snowed in the northeast! Luckily for frequent fliers, such weather has been a rare occurrence this winter. Nevertheless, Chicago O’Hare was forced to cancel more than 350 flights, while Midway Airport lost more than 70 from Southwest alone! Although this caused some major disruptions at airports throughout the US and beyond, we’re happy to report that schedules are being ironed out and you won’t face much hassle after today (barring any totally unforeseen weather).

Those traveling through Mombasa, Kenya’s Moi International Airport will likely catch the scent of smoke and char after an air conditioner at the facility’s VIP lounge exploded yesterday. Tragically, as the airport had completed some renovations to that area in December of last year, the damage is estimated in the millions. Luckily, no one was injured and airport travel remains on schedule.

The O.C.’s John Wayne Airport is currently undergoing construction work to improve the facilities resistance to earthquake damage. Although flight travel is completely unaffected, those picking passengers up between 3am and 3 pm must allow for extra time due to slower traffic. The project will likely last until some time in March.

While parts of the US have been battling snow over the past few days, India’s New Delhi Airport has seen some significant schedule disruptions due to intense fog. At times on Friday, visibility was as low as 300 feet. Although roughly 300 flights were cancelled between Friday and Saturday, most flights seem to be running without any scheduling glitches today.
