Three Reasons to Love British Airways
1. They care about the earth! This month British Airways launched a green initiative at the London Heathrow Airport that other airlines aught to take note of; their staff will now be cruising between their Waterford company headquarters and Terminal 5 of the airport on a green-themed electric bus. The snazzy new wheels can carry 24 passengers and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 20 tons. BA’s Property Compliance Manager Mark Wiles commented, “Introducing this environmentally friendly, battery-powered bus is a further commitment by British Airways in cutting our carbon footprint at Heathrow through improving our ground energy usage.”
2. When it comes to customer satisfaction, they’re innovative! British Airways has always shown a commitment going above and beyond the basics when it comes to their customer service. Currently, they’re testing the use of iPads with 100 cabin crew members in an attempt to expedite on-board customer service. Bill Francis, British Airways’ head of in-flight customer experience, reported “We’re receiving great feedback from cabin crew and customers already. It allows the crew to offer thoughtful service they want to deliver and customers are treated as valued guests.”
3. You needn’t worry about safety here! The Geneva-based Air Transport Rating Agency, which operated independent of any airline, manufacturer or regulation authority, recently announced the results of its airline safety study. Who ranked in the top ten out of 100 rated airlines? Well, British Airways, of course! The study compared the airlines based on 15 different categories, including pilot training facilities, number of accidents within the last ten years, and the age of the airlines fleet.
