New Airline Routes
Amid some serious economic uncertainty, airlines around the world are announcing new routes to keep their business class passenger’s happy and to tap previously untouched potential profits.
Kenya Airways: Kenya Airways Sales and Station Manager, Juliet Zintambilia, announced that the airline would be adding a route connecting Nairobi to Gaborone every Friday. Simultaneously, the airline’s CEO, Dr. Titus Naikuni, announced that they are well underway towards servicing all African capital cities be the end of 2013.
Emirates: This month, the mega-airline began running daily routes to Copenhagen, Denmark. It marks a new link to all Scandinavian countries and further promotes the company’s tour operations branch, Emirates Holidays, which will be running special holiday tour packages to the Northerly region of the world this fall.
Southwest: Though Southwest will be cutting roughly 100 daily routes this fall, they look to increase their total number of daily routes to 3,200 by February 2012. In fact, they will be ringing in the New Year by bringing passengers four completely new daily round-trip routes: Denver and Providence, RI; Nashville and Fort Myers; Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Manchester, NH; and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Milwaukee.
South African Airways: Like Kenya Airways, this slightly more developed country is finding an increase in demand for flights around the continent. With little reason not to jump on the opportunity, SAA will begin operating flights to Ndola, Zambi in October, utilizing the Airbus A319 which accommodates 120 business and economy passengers. Likewise, they will be introducing routes to Burundi, Rwanda and Benin later this year.
