Heading to Narita Airport?

Posted By Wilton0 Comments

Narita Airport has long been considered the gateway to Japan. Located just 40 miles from central Tokyo, the airport hosts more than 35 million passengers annually, most of whom are international travelers. While the airport can be hectic and travel to Tokyo can sometimes be a bit slow due to the density of travelers, we’ve got a few recommendations to keep your trip as stress free as possible.

First, one thing everyone can look forward to is an endless supply of courtesy and efficiency. Immigration and Customs is usually a quick process, and although you may be questioned over your purpose of travel more than once, they are some of the politest individuals!

If you happen to be arriving at Narita, there aren’t quite as many restaurant and shopping opportunities available – but for a quick pick me up before you leave the airport, you may try La Theiere, located right about the Arrival Lobby!

Conversely, upon one’s departure, there are ample opportunities to wine and dine. In Terminal 2, we recommend Sushi Misakimaru or trying Sojibou’s cold soba noodles, both of which can be found on the 4th floor. In Terminal 1, we recommend Tatsu located on the 3rd floor of the central building.

If you’re destined for central Tokyo, you have a few options available. JR (Japan Railways) offers the Narita Express, which will take about one hour, and the JR rapid train, which takes closer to 90 minutes. The Skyliner also takes an estimated hour, but you’ll need to switch lines at JR Tohoku Shinkansen. Finally, Airport Limousines, what we would more aptly call buses, offer dozens of routes but travel time is dependent on road congestion. One upside to the Airport Limousines, however, is that they will drop you off exactly where you prefer.
