A Friday Morning Funny

Posted By Wilton0 Comments

It’s Friday and the weekend is here! But just in case you’re not already feeling elated, we thought we’d bring you a bit of entertaining news compliments of a traveler friend in Boston.

As frequent business class flyers, our agendas are often jam packed from the moment we wake up until the time our head hits the pillow. Constantly hitting the road and taking to the skies can be exhausting. So when we are finally snoozing soundly, the last thing we want is to jarred awake by the incessant buzzing of our alarm clock.

Well, thanks to Matty Sallin, 34, and two of his New York University cohorts, there’s a new way to wake up in the morning: the Wake’n’Bacon! No more annoying buzzers, beeps or wake-up calls, simply the pleasant aroma of freshly cooked, sizzling bacon to get your day started right.

The clock, which was aptly designed to mimic the face of a pig, doesn’t require assistance from a five star chef. Rather the user simply places two pieces of bacon inside the night before and subsequently sets the alarm for the desired time. The following morning Mr. Piggy begins to heat up ten minutes prior to the set alarm and, upon wakeup time, wafts the succulent smell of cured pork out its nostrils. And no, we’re not making this up.

Sadly, although this nifty invention has been featured on a number of sites including UberGizmo, Gear Live, and Wired, Sallin and his friends could not be swayed to get these puppies, or piggies, mass-produced. And so the one lone Wake’n’Bacon will go down in history as a one-of-a-kind. Oh well. At least it’s Friday!
